I'm more than half way through my first project of the second year of my University course, I've been so busy being creative I forgot to blog about it! Basically we are creating our own concept idea for Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland story. My main specialist area on my course is costume but I also make props as well. My concept idea is Alice in Winter Wonderland and since it is winter and nearly Christmas, there is plenty of inspiration for me everywhere I look! My dress that I am designing and making for Alice will have lots of white fur trim, on a Victorian influenced dress and snow/frost effects with an ice blue satin bodice, light blue velvet skirt and white glittery netting underneath. I can't wait to see it come to life!
My props idea is to make a centre piece for the Mad Hatter's tea party, this will be a wooden base covered in silver metallic paint with silver glitter and white netting for a table cloth with a hat in the centre surrounded by a tea pot, tea cup, spoon, saucer.. the typical things you would find at a tea party but they will all have an ice effect to them with fake snow. This should be fun! I'll post more photo's later on in the project, for now this photos are some pages in my sketch book trying out different materials such as watercolours, metallic paints and glitter. Hope you like it! It is some of my favourite work.
